Groundbreaking Day!

Groundbreaking Day!

It was Groundbreaking Day at Littlefield Park, adjacent to Noble Elementary-Middle School, where a new skate park for youth, families, and the community is expected to be complete by September 2026.

The skate park is the brainchild of Mr. Ryan Boday. In 2022, Mr. Bodary, a science teacher at Noble, and his 5th grade students played a huge role in assisting the Littlefield Community Association secure a $300,000 grant from The Skatepark Project, founded by professional skateboarder, Tony Hawk. The new skate park will be designed by Grindline Skateparks.

The $300,000 award was made possible through the generosity of the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation. Littlefield and its partners Noble Elementary-Middle School, Happy Homes Community Association, Northstar Homes Community Development, DPD 2nd Precinct, and others, are excited and look forward to working with the City of Detroit and The Skateboard Project to create a park that reflects the beauty and uniqueness of Detroit.

We are grateful to 8th graders Martez and Nivye'r for their touching statements during the groundbreaking celebration, and delighted that our students were instrumental in helping the Littlefield Community Association secure this award. We especially appreciate Mr. Bodary teaching his students how to be leaders!

Stay tuned, as we eagerly await the Littlefield Community Skatepark's September grand opening!
